Report of Board Actions - February 2010

The Board of Trustees of The Higher Learning Commission met on February 22-23, 2010. The Board approved a number of Proposed and Adopted Policy Changes as well as Proposed Bylaw Changes.

The Commission invites comments on these changes before the Board takes final action in June 2010. Comments can be sent to ms_lists@hlcommission.org. Comments must be received by May 10, 2010.

New Resource for Peer Reviewers

The Commission recently issued a paper, "Advice for HLC Peer Reviewers: Visiting Institutions during the Current Economic Crisis."

2010 Annual Institutional Data Update Now Open

Each year, the Higher Learning Commission requires each member institution to provide an update on organizational health. Completion of the Annual Institutional Data Update (AIDU) is a requirement of affiliation with the Commission. The AIDU is accessible from March 1 - April 16.

Updated Information Available on the Commission’s Pathways Construction Project

The Commission has updated the overview and developed a timeline to demonstrate the implementation of the Pathways Project. The new model proposes to separate the continued accreditation process as currently carried out through PEAQ into two components: the Assurance Process and the Improvement Process.

HLC Responds to OIG Alert Memo

The U.S. Department of Education Office of the Inspector General (OIG) issued an Alert Memo in December 2009 regarding one of the Commission’s accrediting decisions. The Commission issued a letter in response.
